To make sure your package clears customs quickly and without extra hassle, just follow these simple steps:
1. Declare Value & Item:
Let your carrier know the value of your package and give a clear description of what’s inside. If you're sending a boat windshield to be repaired, make sure to mention "Used Items". This will normally make the duties cheaper.
2. Complete the Commercial Invoice:
If your freight forwarder provides you with an invoice, you can use that. Otherwise, we’ve included one for you in the download links below — most of the details are already filled in, so it’s quick and easy.
3. Choose DDP (Delivered Duty Paid):
Selecting DDP is the fastest way to get your package cleared right away. You’ll also see the full cost breakdown upfront, so there are no surprise duty or tariff fees later.
A Note on Added Insurance & Declared Value:
Keep in mind that declaring a higher value adds extra protection but can also increase the fees when importing into Canada. If your added insurance allows it, keep both values separate.
